Elizabeth Zott’s (Brie Larson) aspirations to become a scientist are thwarted by a culture that encourages women to stay at home and take care of their families in the early 1960s. Elizabeth gets a job as the host of a TV cookery programme after discovering she is pregnant, alone, and dismissed from her lab work. She then sets out to educate a country of undervalued housewives.
