Best Actress Award

The Complete List of Oscar 2024 Academic Awards Nominees

With 13 different nominations, “Oppenheimer” leads the 2024 Oscar field. Next, the “Poor Things” came in second place with 11 others. The 96th Academy takes place in the wake of a year that witnessed the epic World War 2 biopic directed by Christopher Nolan and the “Barbie” sensation, which earned hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.

This announcement this year wasn’t without its surprises: Greta Gerwig, who was nominated for the best director for “Barbie”, and the star Margot Robbie, who’s also the director for the best picture candidate, didn’t receive an acting nomination. Leonardo DiCaprio, a previous Oscar winner who starred in “Killers of the Flower Moon”, wasn’t nominated for any acting award this year either.

Lily Gladstone, DiCaprio’s co-star, made history by being the first Native American to receive the Best Actress nomination. Justin Triet became the 9th woman nominated for the best director for “Anatomy of a Fall” while America Ferra received a nod for the best supporting actress for her role in “Barbie” in spite of not being nominated for a Golden Globe.
